The Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEBT) at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has announced the appointment of Prof. Dr. A.M. Swaraz as its new Chairman, effective immediately. He succeeds Prof. Dr. Md. Nazmul Hasan, whose tenure was marked by academic growth and departmental innovation.

Prof. Swaraz, a renowned molecular biologist with expertise in RNA biology, bioenergy, and functional foods, will serve in this leadership role for the next three years (2025–2028). His appointment signals a new chapter for the department, with expectations of expanded research collaboration and student-centered development.

The transition was warmly celebrated by teachers, students and office staffs. Members of the Biotech Society, existing student of various sessions, and other student groups greeted the new Chairman with flowers and heartfelt wishes, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm and respect.
